Cibola National Wildlife Refuge

Cibola National Wildlife Refuge

Cibola National Wildlife Refuge may be found in the floodplain of the lower Colorado River and is flanked on all sides by ridges and washes of desert terrain. The river’s natural courses, as well as the artificial ones, are included within the refuge’s boundaries. Within the refuge are several important backwaters that provide homes for a wide variety of wildlife that lives in the Sonoran Desert.

Despite its severe environment, the refuge provides a haven for wildlife, including summertime temperatures exceeding 120 degrees and an average annual rainfall of only about 2 inches. The river provides the necessary water that the animals need to survive. We would be delighted to have you visit this oasis in the desert and participate in any activities focusing on the local fauna while you take in the stunning scenery.
