Humboldt Lagoons State Park
Humboldt Lagoons State Park is home to a fascinating history. In the early 1900s, farmers drained Dry Lagoon but struggled to make crops viable. Dairy ranches thrived along Stone Lagoon’s shores, and a motel restaurant named the “Little Red Hen” operated until 1979. The restaurant building was then transformed into Shop and visitor center for Humboldt Lagoons.
The park’s marshlands have recovered and are again home to several species of flora and fauna. Day-use picnic sites are available near the visitor centre and on the beach at Stone Lagoon’s northern edge.
