Toltec Mounds State Park

Toltec Mounds State Park

Toltec Mounds State Park is a historical park situated in Arkansas. It includes the Toltec Mounds, a Native American mound site that reveals prehistoric civilizations and culture. This National Historic Landmark site near Little Rock preserves Arkansas’s largest remaining prehistoric Native American mounds. From roughly AD 600 to 1050, a huge ceremonial and administrative complex was located at this site, as evidenced by the mounds and an earthen dam. Arkansas State Parks and the Arkansas Archeological Survey jointly manage the Toltec site.

The centre also serves as home to the Toltec Research Station and Laboratory of the Arkansas Archeological Survey, part of the University of Arkansas. The 1.6-mile grass route and the shorter, barrier-free track are also available for self-guided visits. Park interpreters offer weekday and weekend guided tours and programs by request only.
