Benicia State Recreation Area
Benicia State Recreation Area is a California-protected tidal wetland in a state park. There is a marsh, grassy meadows, and rocky beaches in Benicia State Recreation Area, located at the narrowest portion of the Carquinez Strait. The park has 2 1/2 miles of roads and bike paths that people use to ride bikes, run, walk, ride horses, and roller skate. There are also places to picnic and watch birds and fish. Dogs must always be on a leash.
One of the most popular places to fish is in the marshy area of Dillon’s Point. There is a parking fee. Three “Enroute” campsites are offered for overnight stays on a “first-come, first-served” basis, with no way to make reservations. There can’t be any tents. It is against the rules to collect or destroy anything in the park, including mushrooms. The stunning Benicia State Recreation Area may be found on the narrowest portion of the Carquinez Strait.
