Border Field State Park entrance may be located at the most southern point of the United States, about 20 kilometers (12 miles) south of San Diego. The park is named for the border that it abuts.

It is a section of the Tijuana River National Estuarine Research Reserve, an essential component of the natural environment for birds in danger of extinction. Visitors can participate in various pursuits, including surf fishing, beachcombing, hiking, equestrian riding, and bird watching.

Amenities such as restrooms, picnic spots, BBQ grills, and informative displays can be found within the park. Due to the hazardous conditions, swimming and wading are not encouraged activities. In addition, the park is home to border monument number 258, which denotes the geographical divide between the United States of America and Mexico.

Border Field Trail At Border Field State Park

Hiking along the Border Field Trail is a beautiful opportunity to take you from the border between Mexico and California to the Tijuana River and Imperial Beach. This 3-mile round trip trail is rich in history, with a monument marking the original survey site of the international border.
