Bothe-Napa Valley State Park, situated in the beautiful wine valley of Napa Valley, provides a variety of activities for guests to enjoy. You may set up a tent, picnic, swim, and hike through stunning forests filled with madrone, tanoak, Douglas-fir, and redwood trees. On the Redwood Trail in Ritchey Canyon, you can take a stroll and enjoy the ferns and the creek sound as you go.

Bring your favorite cheese and wine for a relaxing afternoon spent picnicking beneath the towering Douglas firs. You can beat the heat of summer by taking a dip in the swimming pool. The park also features expansive picnic sites that may accommodate group gatherings. You can look closer at the park’s natural wonders thanks to the nearly 10 miles of available trails.

Nature Type of Bothe-Napa Valley State Park

Rough terrain may be found throughout the park, ranging from 300 to 2,000 feet in elevation. Forests cover north-facing slopes, while brushy patches cover south-facing slopes. Creeks and springs support redwoods.

Upper Ritchey Canyon has volcanic ash walls. Due to their nocturnal habits and the deep forest, raccoons, squirrels, deer, foxes, bobcats, and coyotes are elusive. Dogs are only allowed in restricted locations, but woodpeckers and spotted owls are prevalent.

Visitors Center At Bothe-Napa Valley State Park

A Visitor Center may be found close to the park’s entrance. However, the hours of operation vary greatly depending on the number of people available to work. It is possible to receive hiking brochures and maps through the mail.

The Native American Garden can be found right next to the Visitor Center and features a variety of flora that were significant to the area’s early occupants. Wappo people still cherish these plants. Camping At Bothe-Napa Valley State Park

Day visitors can only see the park’s overnight accommodations in Bothe-Napa Valley State Park. 3801 St. Helena Highway, Calistoga, California state park has campsites, yurts, and cottages in the redwoods.

The park offers 10 kilometers of nature trails and a seasonal pool. Bothe-Napa Valley State Park has 45 roomy tent or RV campsites (no hookups), one group camping area, 9 primitive hike-in campsites, 10 furnished yurts in two sizes, and private cabins with restrooms and full kitchens.

From the Bale Mill, located within Bale Grist Mill State Historical Park, visitors are guided through the 1.1-mile-long History Trail, eventually bringing them to picnic areas within the adjoining Bothe-Napa Valley State Park.

The historic White Church and the Pioneer Cemetery, where several of the region’s first settlers were laid to rest, can be seen from the trail as it winds through Napa Valley. This picturesque nature walk travels through the woods, some shrubs, and along Mill Creek.

Birding at Bothe-Napa Valley State Park

The Bale Grist Mill State Historic Park and the Bothe Napa Valley State Park are separated by a distance that requires you to walk between them. You will have the chance to see many different species of birds. Here are a few red flags to keep an eye out for: A Bald Eagle, a Great Blue Heron, a Pileated Woodpecker, a California scrub jay, a Cackling Goose, a Cinnamon Teal, and a Northern Shoveler are some of the birds that live in this area.
