Chamisso National Wildlife Refuge is a 455-acre wilderness area. In 1975, the US Congress officially recognized it. Alaska has the Chamisso National Wildlife Refuge. Over 8,800 acres, it honours German naturalist Adelbert von Chamisso. The refuge has beaches, wetlands, and woodlands.
