Chickasaw State Park spans 1,400 acres in West Tennessee, honoring the Chickasaw people. It was designated as a state park in 1955, making it one of Tennessee’s earliest state parks, dating back to the New Deal. Located on the mountaintop, it offers spectacular views and is home to some of the highest peaks in western Tennessee. The park features 14,384 forested acres and 1,280 open for outdoor activities. Over four miles of well-maintained paths invite hikers and cyclists to explore the area. Renting a rowboat or pedal boat in Lake Placid is a great way to take in the area’s natural beauty leisurely.

Riding a Horse:

Chickasaw State Park is a popular destination for those who enjoy equestrian riding. Five miles of scenic horse paths weave through lovely pine trees, showing dramatic elevation changes, and may be explored with the help of the on-site riding stables, which offer horse rentals and guided tours.

Wrangler Campground is an excellent option for horse owners looking for a place to stay in the park, with its RV hookups and spacious sites. The park’s Wrangler Campground guests can rent stable stalls. Chickasaw Forest has hundreds of miles of trails.

Paddling:

Fans of paddling sports will find Chickasaw State Park to be a paradise. Lake Placid, at the park’s center, lives up to its name by offering calm waters to unwind. From Memorial Day until the first weekend in August, and then only on weekends until October 16, you can bring your paddling equipment or rent it from the park’s boat dock.

Take in the peaceful scenery of the lake and have some fun with these everyday water pursuits.
