Chugach National Forest
Chugach National Forest, located in Southcentral Alaska, is a vast territory spanning 6,908,540 acres (27,958 km2). It presently encompasses portions of Prince William Sound, the Kenai Peninsula, and the Copper River Delta after being formed in 1907 from a section of a larger forest reserve. Camping At Chugach National Forest
Williwaw Campground is conveniently located among various recreational opportunities in the Portage Valley. You can travel to the gold rush hamlet of Hope if you stay at the Porcupine Campground. The Russian River Campground is a great example of how the Forest Service designed campgrounds, and it is famous for its red salmon fishing. There are over 20 approved campgrounds, in addition to endless opportunities for camping in the backcountry or spread around the park.
