Dockweiler Beach
Dockweiler Beach is a three-mile stretch of shoreline in Los Angeles that is usually quiet. It’s a west-facing beach, making it unique for bonfires, and the county of Los Angeles has no other beaches with an RV park. Despite being in the city, it’s not surrounded by buildings, offering a spacious sandy area. It can get busy in the summer, especially in the evening, around the fire rings.
The only downside is the noise from Los Angeles International Airport. However, with over 1,200 parking spaces and various activities available, the beach remains enjoyable. A Recreational Vehicle Park with 118 full hookup spaces and the Dockweiler Youth Center offers a multi-purpose room, terrace, camps, and community programs.
Water Fun At Dockweiler Beach
At Dockweiler Beach, swimming is not prohibited in any way. It provides, of course, that you can handle the temperature of the water, which varies from the upper 50s to the upper 60s Fahrenheit depending on the time of year.
At least 95 per cent of the time, the water passes tests designed to evaluate its quality. The water is pure. The LA County Public Health Department has a map where you can zoom in on Dockweiler to examine the present and predicted conditions. Lifeguards are on duty at the pool during daylight hours throughout the summer.
Sand Fun
South of the campground is where you’ll find the volleyball nets; however, you must bring your balls with you. A frisbee may be easily thrown across the expansive stretch of sand that is devoid of obstacles, and a sandcastle can be constructed in the moist sand that is close to the water’s edge.
Sand Sledding
The county of Los Angeles creates sand berms around its beaches before the winter season to protect from winter storms and rough waves. This preparation takes place in anticipation of the winter season. Sand sledging is a ton of fun, and this area with manufactured dunes is perfect. You only need a cheap saucer with a perfectly smooth bottom, preferably a sturdy plastic-bottomed boogie board. Both of these options are relatively inexpensive.
Participate in a Beach Bonfire
Between the RV Park and the beach, Dockweiler has approximately forty fire pits for guests. Anyone who has been there before can attest that there is not enough to satisfy the demand, and reservations are not being taken.
On a weekday during the shoulder season, some of them are still available in the middle of the afternoon. You may have to get in line at the front gate before dawn on holiday weekends to guarantee yourself a parking place. Each hole holds about ten people.
Camping at Dockweiler State Beach
Dockweiler Beach in Los Angeles is a three-mile length of beach that is rarely crowded. It’s in the middle of the city, but buildings do not hem it in, so there’s plenty of room for a beach.
Evenings around the fire rings tend to grow crowded throughout the summer. The only real drawback is the constant roar of LAX. The beach is still fun, even with over 1,200 parking spots, because there are many things to do there. The Dockweiler Youth Center features a gymnasium, an outdoor terrace, summer camps, and other activities for the local youth. The RV Park has 118 full hookup places for RVs.
