The campgrounds of Lake Fort Smith State Park are state-of-the-art structures. The Ozark Highland Trail traverses more than 240 miles of Arkansas’s hills and begins here from the west. The park has several routes that range in length and complexity, from the 12-mile Boston Mountain Trail to the 2-mile Shepherd Spring Trail to the 1-mile Warren Hollow Trail. Lake Fort Smith is off-limits for swimming and other water sports, although a large pool is nearby. The lake is open for fishing and boating. However, vessels with more than 10 horsepower are prohibited.

Fire rings and grills are provided at paved sites suitable for RVs, and tent campers can access shady areas nearby. A comfortable stay is guaranteed thanks to the availability of bathhouse amenities such as flushing toilets, running water, and hot showers.
