Piedra Blanca National Recreation Trail is a trail located in California. It offers scenic views, unique rock formations, and opportunities for hiking and exploring nature in the beautiful Piedra Blanca area.

It has several wilderness campsites along this 17.7-mile trail that winds through the Sespe Wilderness’ stunning white rock formations. National Recreation Trail is a status granted by protection legislation for the Los Padres Condor Range and River.

Gene Marshall, an outspoken supporter of wilderness protection for the Sespe, largely influenced the Los Padres River and Condor Range Conservation Act.

The National Recreation Trail of Gene Marshall and Piedra Blanca is 8.7 miles long and can be found in the Ojai Ranger District, providing hikers access to the Wilderness Area. The ascent is relatively simple at first but soon becomes extremely difficult. Follow Rose Valley Road to Lion Campground.

Follow the trail to the left after crossing the large creek bed. About a half mile later, you’ll reach a T-junction; make a right there. After 2.7 miles, you’ll reach Piedra Blanca Camp, named after the nearby white cliffs. Half a mile further, you can find running water at Twin Fork Camp throughout the year.

The final three kilometers to Pine Mountain Lodge Camp are quite strenuous yet rewarding. This camp is hidden among the trees and is conveniently located beside a stream.

The Piedra Blanca Trail branches northwest from the Pine Mountain Lodge, connecting to the Haddock and Reyes Creek Camps. The Mt. Pinos Ranger District’s Fishbowls and Cedar Creek Camps can be reached via the trail heading east.
