Prairie Grove Battlefield State Park is a park in Arkansas that preserves the significant Civil War battle site. There were thousands of casualties and hundreds more wounded as the Confederate and Union armies fought here on December 7, 1862. The main combat took place in a valley that may now be explored by visitors who walk up the ridge.
The park features a 6.5-mile driving tour and a 1-mile Battlefield Trail with educational displays. The park educates visitors about the war and its aftermath through displays, guided tours, and other events. In the first week of December every other year, the park hosts Arkansas’s largest battle reenactment.
