Rickwood Caverns State Park is a public park in Alabama known for its stunning caverns and outdoor recreational opportunities. Intriguing guided tours are available of the park’s ancient limestone caverns, rumored to be as much as 260 million years old and have spectacular lighted formations.

In an underground pool, guests can observe the rare blind cavefish. National Caves Association member Rickwood Caverns has over a mile of intriguing underground formations. The Mississippian epoch created these tunnels, continually adorned with new structures and flowstones due to mineral-rich water pouring. Rickwood Caverns State Park’s “miracle mile” guided tour offers numerous unique sites.

Explore the Cave:

Starting from a stone building, the Rickwood Caverns tour goes down a mile to a depth of 175 feet. Take the well-lit path through the cavern and gaze at the beautiful rock formations and tranquil underground lakes.

Geocaching is recognized as a healthy and enjoyable activity to participate in while outdoors at Alabama State Parks. All geocaches in parks must be authorized by a geocaching policy to guarantee visitor safety and efficient use of park resources.

You will receive news on the permit’s status once it has been evaluated. Visitors must first obtain the proper permits to have a safe and enjoyable geocaching experience in Alabama State Parks.
