Sierra National Forest
Sierra National Forest is comprised of an area spanning 1.3 million acres and comprising various landscapes. Some of these landscapes include beautiful snow-capped peaks of the Sierra Nevada crest, gently sloping hillsides with oak trees and the rim of the San Joaquin Valley. The Sierra National Forest is home to many recreational options, which serves as one of its many appealing features.
There are approximately 60 campgrounds, two rivers designated as Sierra Mountains are beautiful and rugged, with over 1,100 miles of trails. In addition, there are 11 reservoirs and 528,000 acres of wilderness area. Wilderness areas such as Ansel Adams, Dinkey Lake, John Muir, the Kaiser, and the Monarch are the Forest’s five officially declared Wilderness Areas.
