Wind Creek State Park in Alabama
WindCreek State Park is a beautiful park that provides easy access to Lake Martin and several fun things to do. It is the largest state-run campground in the United States, with 626 sites providing water and 30 amp hookups at each. There are 212 sewer-connected sites, and 169 are right on the water, perfect for fishing, swimming, and boating.
First come, first served applies to the distribution of waterfront and sewage sites. The park’s 1,445 acres are adjacent to Lake Martin’s 41,000 acres, making it possible to go fishing, swimming, and boating on the lake. There is also a camp store, a fishing pier, trails for hiking and biking, a children’s playground, and picnic spots with barbecue grills, table sets, and covered pavilions.
Camping:
There are 626 modern campsites in Wind Creek State Park’s 320-acre campground, making it the largest state-operated campground in the United States. This modern campground has everything you need for a great camping experience, including campfires, outdoor grilling, cycling, and hiking.
Picnic tables, grills, running water, and electricity are available at each location. The campground has several bathrooms for your convenience and a playground in the middle for the kids.
Fishing:
Lake Martin is a massive reservoir that can be found in the middle of Alabama’s east-central region. It is located roughly 40 miles northeast of Montgomery. It encompasses a total area of 39,100 acres and has over 700 miles of shoreline; it also features several public access places, marinas, and Wind Creek State Park, all suitable for fishing and boating. The water level is drawn down around 10 feet seasonally, although access locations have been planned to handle this annual dip.
