Grover Hot Springs State Park
Grover Hot Springs State Park is located in Alpine County, California, 5,900 feet above sea level, west of Markleeville, and south of Lake Tahoe. The park is located in the Great Basin Province in the eastern Sierra Nevada Mountains and has open pine forest, sagebrush, and meadows.
In addition to its natural hot springs, Grover Hot Springs has a swimming pool, 74 campsites, a picnic area, and miles of hiking paths. Avian enthusiasts are welcome, too. There is a hot pool and a swimming pool in the park, both of which are heated by the natural hot springs that flow through the park.

Turn west onto Hot Springs Road from Highway 89 in Markleeville and go The distance to Grover Hot Springs State Park is 3.5 miles. You may as park at the main entrance to the park and walk to the trailhead, or you can drive to the north end of Quaking Aspen Campground, where there is plenty of parking and a well-marked trailhead or park at the pool or make the trek from there.

Squirrels of many species can be found throughout the woodland, meadow, and campgrounds. Over a hundred different kinds of birds have been seen in the area.
Numerous kinds of warblers, woodpeckers, and swallows, as well as the Western tanager, the mountain bluebird, the common nighthawk, the Steller’s jay, the barn swallow, and many more, all congregate here throughout the spring and summer.
