Old Davidsonville State Park
Old Davidsonville State Park is a historical park that preserves the site of the historic town of Davidsonville in Arkansas. This park safeguards the land on which the historic settlement of Davidsonville, founded in 1815, was built. The town served as the location for important establishments such as the first post office, courthouse, and land office in the Arkansas Territory.
However, as a result of the town being cut off by the Southwest Trail, a land route linking St. Louis and the Mexican border, the town’s population began to decrease by the 1830s steadily. At present, the park provides visitors with opportunities to learn about the past of this significant frontier town through interpretive tours and displays.

This park has a total of 49 campsites, one of which is a Standard A site, 23 Standard B sites, and 25 tent sites. The Standard A site is the most desirable option. In addition, guests can take advantage of playgrounds, picnic spots, and two pavilions that meet acceptable screening requirements. Four hiking paths are accessible, including a self-guided walking track around the historic town site. These opportunities are for nature lovers. These amenities allow visitors to enjoy the park’s history while having fun outside.
Fishing at Old Davidsonville State Park
Many of the park’s visitors come to the area primarily to fish. Anglers will be pleased to know that a boat launch ramp is outside the park’s gates for easy access to the Black River. Furthermore, a 12-acre fishing lake is offered, complete with a handicapped-accessible dock. Fishing boats with engines, pedal boats, and canoes are available for people who want to get out on the water. The Spring and Eleven Point Rivers are close if you want more fishing options.
